What is Online Shopping Day?

This is an ACEPI initiative that has been held annually since 2011.

It brings together hundreds of websites and online stores from the most important brands in Portugal with discounts and promotions. This initiative lasts only 24 hours and aims, among other objectives, to increase Portuguese people's confidence in online shopping and promote good practices on the Internet.

The golden rules of online shopping

The growth of e-commerce has resulted in a greater need to address issues such as Online Fraud Prevention. Before shopping online, remember:

  • Make purchases from trusted sellers.
  • Make sure you shop on secure websites (e.g. sites that have a padlock in front of the url address and that begin with "https://").
  • Check comments and ratings.
  • Make sure the online store uses secure payments systems (e.g., "Visa Secure").
  • Be wary of messages that appeal to urgency and offers that you cannot refuses (e.g., "Click now," "Don't miss this opportunity," "You only have 24 hours to access the link").
  • Don't send money to people you don't know.
  • Use your BBVA Credit Card when sopping online. (14.5% APR).
  • Save all emails and documents related to online purchases.

BBVA Depois Classic Card – APR of 14.5% and Nominal APR of 12.50% for a €3,000 credit paid in 12 months, including the credit card activation fee of €20/year (stamp duty included) and other legal taxes in force.   

BBVA Depois Gold Card – APR of 14.5% and Nominal APR of 11.70% for a 7,000 euro credit paid in 12 months, including the credit card activation fee of 72.50 euros/year (stamp duty included) and other legal taxes in force.
