Payment Services

Here you will find information on the common and secure open communication standards (API) contained in Decree-Law no. 91/2018, published on 12 November, which transposes, into the legal system, Directive (EU) 2015/2366 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November on payment services in the internal market (Revised Payment Services Directive PSD2).

APIs

PSD2 is a European regulation governing digital payment services. The new regulation implements major changes in banking by giving third parties access to their infrastructure.

Banks give Third Party Payment Service Providers (TPPSP) access to their infrastructure, allowing them to access their Customers' accounts and enabling payments to be initiated in their name (always with prior authorization from the account holder).

BBVA provides the following services via APIs:

  • Payment Initiation Services (PIS);
  • Account Aggregation Services (AIS);
  • Fund Confirmation (CoF-PIS).

In any case, customer authorization is required via authentication, both for Private and Corporate customers.

TPPs must comply with the same rules as traditional payment service providers, e.g. Registration, authorization and supervision by competent authorities.

If you are a TPP that has been registered and authorized by the competent authorities, you can access our APIs, technical specifications, and testing environment at https://market.apis-i.redsys.es/psd2/xs2a/nodos/bbvaportugal.

If you have any questions or doubts, you may also send an email to psd2.sandbox.soporte@redsys.es.

Here you will find quarterly statistics on the availability and performance of APIs and the interface used by payment service users.
